Pierre Loti Hill Istanbul

Pierre Loti Hill

Pierre Loti Hill in Istanbul is  not very familiar by of the people outside of Turkey. However, in our opinion this place should be on your list. Like Camlica Hill on the Asian side, this Pierre Loti is also a Hill with breathtaking views over Haliç and beautiful Istanbul. The name originated from the French Pierre Loti novelist and naval officer. In 1876 wrote novel passages in his diary dealing with some curious experiences at Istanbul. The result was the anonymously published Aziyadé (1879).

Things to do in Pierre Loti Hill
Our advise would be to go in late afternoon when the evening starts. You can choose from a couple of cafe’s and restaurants but also a “nargile house” where you can smoke a water pipe while enjoying your Turkish tea. Stay there for 1 or 2 hours and experience the vibrant city when the lights go on.This is the moment you can take beautiful pictures from the Pierre Loti Hill.

How to get there
Pierre Loti Hill is located in Eyüp. You can either reach the hill by car or take the “teleferik”. As you can see from the picture, this is a gondola (cable car). The price for an one-way ticket is the same price you for a metro or bus ticket which is 3 TL (jeton). You can also go by car all the way up since there are many car parks available.
